Victim 54. Cast of a victim made between 31st of July and 21st of September 1976.
Plaster cast of victim on exhibit in display in temporary pyramid in amphitheatre. September 2015.
Victim 54 is a female aged over 20 years.
The body was found outside Porta Nola, by the Tomb of M. Obellius Firmus, between the 31st of July and the 21st of September 1976.
The imprint of the clothes, perhaps a tunic and a cloak, rolled up between the thighs, on the abdomen and back is clearly visible; on the right shoulder the drapery is evident and on the left calf the imprint of the weave of a light fabric seems to be distinguishable; there is possibly the presence of a headdress and sandals, traces of which appear to be visible on the left foot.
On the 15th of September 1976, next to the left hand of the victim part of an iron ring with a gem incised with an image of the goddess Fortuna.
On the 31st July, before the cast was made, near the body were found a gold ring with an emerald, a silver ring with the head of a serpent, another gold ring with bezel bearing the engraving of a palmette or ear of corn, a small silver ring with a chain to which a phallic pendant must have been hung, a silver statuette of Isis Fortuna and a hoard of money consisting of four silver denarii and twenty bronze coins.
